Small Dove Frequently Asked Questions
(Servant FAQs)

So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, "Whatever could this mean?" (Acts 2:12)

  1. How does this ministry work?

  2. How often will I be used?

  3. Will I have to travel far to serve?

  4. Will this interfere with my regular church ministries?

  5. Will I be compensated or offered a regular position?

  6. Is there a charge for this ministry?

  7. Do I have to attend a Calvary Chapel to serve in this ministry?

  8. What if I don’t know how the Lord would have me to serve?

How does this ministry work?

The ministry which has a need submits a "Request A Servant" form.  The form is prayerfully considered with servants who have submitted an "Availability Form".  The staff associated with this ministry will prayerfully look for common qualifiers that would indicate that the available servant and ministry should be in contact with each other.  This is a Spirit led ministry and each request and applicant are prayerfully considered.  We believe that the Lord may provide a servant to fill a ministry need that may not make sense, logically, but we are "impressed by His Spirit" that the two should contact each other.  The requesting ministry is then provided information for as many servants as are available, for that ministry to interview and prayerfully discern that their request has been met.   In certain cases, the available servant may initiate contact with the requesting ministry.

This ministry (Calvary Chapel Network of Servants) is simply a "means" to let the ministry know that the servant is available.

How often will I be used?

As often as the Lord wills.  We will truly seek the Lord to meet the ministry need.

Will I have to travel far to serve?

No.  You always have the option to accept the call.  We will try to connect you with a ministry need in your area.

Will this interfere with my regular church ministries?

No.  God is a God of order and not confusion.  We do not believe that His Spirit would lead you to serve in two places at the same time.  You should be able to serve in this ministry without affecting your service for God someplace else.

Will I be compensated or offered a regular position?

By serving in this ministry, the servant agrees not to ask for any monetary compensation for his or her temporary service.  If the ministry need is a paid or permanent position, then that arrangement is between the ministry and the servant.

Is there a charge for this ministry?

The Lord supports this ministry.  There are no fees charged to connect the servant with the ministry need.

Do I have to attend a Calvary Chapel to serve in this ministry?

Yes.  We ask that you acknowledge that you are a born again believer and have been in regular fellowship at a Calvary Chapel for at least 6 months and/or have read and agree with the Calvary Chapel Distinctives (see link below) before applying to serve with this ministry.  We believe that the servants who participate in this ministry should come from a like-minded background where a servant’s heart is emphasized.  We would not want to have anyone feel that they are being asked to serve the Lord in a manner that they do not agree with.

All Servants serving through this ministry are encouraged to read the Calvary Chapel Distinctives book available for reading online at: Calvary Chapel Distinctives

What if I don’t know how the Lord would have me to serve?

Pray.  We’ll pray with you.  If you find yourself led to be a part of this ministry, submit an Availability Form and we’ll wait on Him in prayer for that calling
